Gregory Smith PhD candidateDr Gregory Smith – Inspirational Speaker

Key Messages: Motivate, Overcome Barriers including Drugs & Alcohol, Homelessness, Upbringing & Mental Health, Inspirational Change, Honesty and Self Awareness, Education and Life Opportunity

All the odds were stacked against him from the start. Experiencing abuse and neglect and surrendered to an orphanage in the 60s, this shaky beginning led to a life of drug and alcohol abuse, homelessness and ultimately severe disengagement from society, deciding to live as a hermit for approximately ten years in a Northern NSW rainforest. How Dr Gregory exited the forest to eventually gain his PhD, become a university lecturer in the Arts & Social Science sector and an ambassador for Australia’s ‘forgotten children’ is an awe-inspiring story.

Featured on ABC radio’s Conversations with Richard Fidler, Sunrise Today and now touring his new book released by Penguin, Out of the Forest, Dr Gregory’s life story is a captivating and inspiring story of triumph. On September 3, Dr Gregory’s story featured on the ABC’s Australian Story.

Dr Gregory Smith is the perfect keynote speaker where the goal is to amaze and motivate listeners. Through the telling of his story, he conveys a message that anyone can overcome and beat the odds, no matter what. While his life story is fascinating, Dr Gregory’s pragmatic wisdom and humour is both soothing and useful. His prior speaking engagements have included addressing audiences from the recruitment, mental health and community support industries.
