Tracy Barrell was born with only one arm as a result of a morning sickness treatment taken during her mother’s pregnancy. At the age of three, while playing in her parents garage she came across an old skateboard and realised this was a great way to get around, her mode of transport ever since.
It was a great pleasure to meet with her and spend some time travelling together while on a series of speaker events in 2015, her sense of humour and camaraderie was contagious and it made for great dinner conversation at the end of the days travel and speaking.
Tracy is a living example of willpower, with her it really is where there’s a will there’s a way. A two time paralympian gold medal winning swimmer (yes, she swims fast too…), a mother of two boys and an ambassador for both Aboriginal rights and Disability rights, Tracy really has achieved it all.
Her story is incredible, her delivery is both comedic and extremely confronting (you have no idea the level of ignorance or prejudice persons with a disability experience on a daily basis in the community) and her enthusiasm for life and all it’s experiences is contagious. Tracy is sure to get your audience out of their comfort zone and into a world of possibilities.
After all, if someone with one arm can achieve all this, what is really holding you back?
